 Greetings!

Happy December! It's hard to believe it's the last month of 2013. Here at the Chamber, we've had a busy year of working to provide interesting, valuable and relevant information and programs for our members. It's been great to see so many of our members reach their business goals and to learn about the successes they have had. We look forward to sharing with you the programs and events that are upcoming for 2014 that will continue to help you grow and promote your business.

With all the activity that happens at the Chamber, we appreciate the help we receive from our volunteers. Their contributions on committees, at events, and assisting in the office has been vital to our organization. Tonight, we are thanking them at our Volunteer Appreciation Reception at Vallejo's. We're looking forward to having this time to honor them.

If you are looking to become more involved with the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber, we have many opportunities for you, and would welcome your participation. Volunteering is a great way to meet your fellow members, develop new skills and have fun!

Featured Member of the Month: David Sobon Auctions

David Sobon Auction will partner with FRINGE to present, "First DIBS," an exclusive two part unveiling event of over 30 years of varied collections of one-of-a-kind antiquities, curiosities and contemporary pieces. This 2-day event in Sacramento on Dec. 6 &7, will feature mid-century modern furniture and collectibles, combining a benefit auction and blow-out party supporting the region's arts nonprofits with a one-of-a-kind-pre-Christmas, live-auction shopping experience for avid fans and collectors, vintage lovers, and designers.

The "First Dibs" is happening this weekend, and we have two tickets for SHCC members that are interested in attending. Make sure to respond to [email protected] to be entered into the drawing for the Friday Night VIP Party.

David Sobon has consulted with hundreds of foundations, service, and religious groups around the country to help them fulfill their fundraising goals. In his 22 years of assisting non-profits, he has had the opportunity to consult with organizations such as Susan G. Komen, the American Leadership Forum, the March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network, the American Red Cross, B Street Theatre, the Sacramento Opera, and a variety of chambers of commerce, art organizations, and schools. David Sobon is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and part of their teaching faculty. As a member of the National Auctioneers' Association, he earned the title of Benefit Auction Specialist. He has also served as President of the Board of Directors for the Chevo Fund. David's contributions have had a profound and lasting impact throughout the non-profit community of Sacramento and beyond.

David Sobon Auctions has been a driving force for these benefit auctions in the region and has raised increasing the proceeds through benefit auction events to an art form. You may recognize David from the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala, last year. David was the auctioneer to help us raise over $10,000 for the Mayor Joe Serna Jr. Scholarship Fund, plus auctioned over a dozen luxury items. David joined the SHCC to help reach new markets and develop his connections with nonprofits and business interested in a new way of buying art. DSA's fresh and innovative ideas translate to exciting, highly successful events. Our unique "DSA System" helps organizations raise more money and have more fun, while at the same time changing the lives of those they serve.
