Yale Security New Hires & Promotions
During the late fall and early winter, Yale Security had a few personnel changes.  We welcomed two new staff members and congratulated two security officers who were promoted.

In late fall, Rachael Stark joined the Yale Security Systems team as a Project Administrator. Prior to Yale, she worked with an electronic security contractor and then as a consultant for the Town of Clinton's Economic Development Commission. Rachael has a B.S. in Business Management/Accounting from Albertus Magnus College.

Just before the holidays, Charlie Hebron, Jr. joined the Yale Cultural Properties team as a Communications Officer.  Charlie had worked in Operations as a security officer for seven years.  He will be working 3rd shift as a Communications Officer in the Cultural Properties Office.

Just after the New Year, Gary Mays was promoted to Security Manager. Gary had worked as a security officer for the past two years. Prior to Yale, he was a corrections supervisor for the State of CT (retiring after 21 years), then for UPS and recently served as the dean of student security for the New Haven Board of Education. Gary brings his solid management experience to the 2nd and 3rd shifts.

In late January, Brianne Kane was hired as a Yale Security manager working second shift. Brianne comes to New Haven from Iowa where she received her B.A. at the University of Iowa (UOI). While at UOI, she worked as a student security officer eventually becoming a security manager. Brianne is knowledgeable in higher education security, including working in UOI cultural properties. Brianne received her Masters in Homeland Security from Penn State.

chilirth Annual Chili Cook-off -
Spicy dishes & Toys for Tots!

Defending Chile Champ Bill Goldbach (on left holding trophy) took first prize and added his name to the official chile trophy.   In the top right photo, Dave Landino on right took second place and Anthony Fronte took 3rd.

Yale Security Systems held its 4th Annual Chili Cookoff in early December.  The stakes were high this year and the competition stiff.  There were 9 chile entries ranging in ingredients from  beef, pork, and venison to bacon and chocolate. There was even one gluten-free beef chile (made by Yale Police Lieutenant
Keith Pullen.)

Last year's champ, Systems Manager Bill Goldbach, took first place with his Billdog Chile which contained beef, bacon and pancetta. Second and third place went to Dave Landino, for his Chocolate Chile and Anthony Fronte  for his Deer in Headlight Chile both winners are also from Systems.

All tasters gained entry with a free toy. Security collected over 100 toys! These were given out to local kids through the Toys for Tots program! Congratulations to all the winners! And thanks to all the cooks for their delicious efforts.

Special thanks to Dave Landino for organizing this fun event! See you next year.
 Recently Retired

Congratulations and  farewell to Edward Fresco, Security Central Alarm Station (CSA) Operator who retired at the end of January.

Ed had been with Yale for 10 years (and had recently celebrated that milestone!) and worked the 3rd shift in the CSA. We wish Ed a long and happy retirement!
 More Toys for Tots

During the holidays, Security Operations collected, even more toys for local tots.  Spearheaded by Manager Bob Cervone, over 50 toys were collected from all shifts, and then picked up by the Yale Police Department for distribution to local children by the US Marine Corps.

This is the second year that the Howe Street location has been used as most security personnel attend roll call at that location where the toy drop box is placed.  "It was a good feeling to see the amount of toys grow each day knowing that they will help someone's holiday be a little brighter," said Cervone.  Thanks to all who donated!!
