The stature of VBA members as leaders in the profession is readily apparent each year in the late summer and early fall. Not only does
Virginia Lawyers Weekly announce the year's Leaders in the Law, but
"VBA Conference Season" kicks off. Let me take a minute to show off our members.
Fifteen VBA members are included in the 10th class of Virginia's
Leaders in the Law recently named by Virginia Lawyers Media, publisher of
Virginia Lawyers Weekly. This is no aberration. Every year, the list is replete with VBA members. Congratulations to all.
Our members truly shine when the VBA sections present their conferences. These are the pre-eminent programs in their fields. The experience and expertise of our members are on display. The conferences include following in chronological order:
45th Conference on Labor Relations and Employment Law (Section Chair: Harris D. Butler III)
2015 Appellate Summit (Section Chair: Frank K. Friedman)
17th Annual VBA Corporate Counsel Fall Forum (Section Chair: Kindra L. Kirkeby)
11th Annual Virginia Health Care Practitioners' Roundtable (Section Chair: Jamie Baskerville Martin)
26th Annual VBA Tax Practitioners' Roundtable (Section Chair: Flora T. Hezel)
21st Annual Administrative Law Conference (Section Chair: JoAnne L. Nolte)
23rd Annual Capital Defense Workshop (Workshop Chair: Jon Sheldon)
These conferences haven't been around so long just because they satisfy CLE requirements (reminder: deadline is October 31). They bring together the best minds in their respective subject areas. Plus, these conferences show off the VBA's core values: Advocacy, Professionalism, Service, and Collegiality. Many thanks to all the VBA members who present these terrific conferences for the benefit of the profession and the public.
