The 9th Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy comes to a close today. You still have time to donate food or cash! The Legal Food Frenzy has been a signature program of our Young Lawyers Division for nearly a decade. Working in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, this project of the YLD has been responsible for raising the equivalent of 11.4 million pounds of food for needy members of our communities -- children, seniors, disabled adults, the unemployed and underemployed.
We are proud of our YLD. Not only does the Legal Food Frenzy exemplify the VBA's core value of Service, but the friendly competitions and camaraderie also promote another VBA core value: Collegiality. Many thanks to our statewide co-chairs:
- Stacey C. Forbes of Reed Smith LLP
- Christopher M. Gill of Christian & Barton, L.L.P.
- William D. Prince, IV, of ThompsonMcMullan P.C.
- Derek H. Swanson of McGuireWoods LLP
- Lauren M. Wheeling of Williams Mullen
Thanks also to all the coordinators at law firms, corporations, law schools, and governmental agencies. And special thanks to you, the donors. Your contributions are helping alleviate hunger in our communities.
Check with your employer or law school to make sure your donation earns points in the competition on their behalf. Winners will be invited to a special award ceremony with the Governor and Attorney General of Virginia.
