The VBA Voice
The VBA often finds reasons to celebrate. Today, though, we want to take a moment to mark a special event.
July 5, 1888, marks the date that 128 Virginia lawyers founded the association. For the next year, you may see this anniversary logo that marks 125 years of member dedication and commitment to improving laws and access to justice. Happy anniversary.

At the Virginia State Bar Annual Meeting...
|
During his term as VSB president, W. David Harless recognized the support of the VBA and its leadership to the Virginia State Bar. He made a special presentation to the 2011 president, Lucia Anna "Pia" Trigiani of MercerTrigiani, at the VSB meeting in June. Harless and Trigiani are longtime VBA members.
The state bar also inducted as its 2013-2014 president and president- elect two other individuals familiar to the VBA -- Fairfax lawyer Sharon Nelson and Virginia Beach attorney Kevin E. Martingayle.
For the second consecutive year, the VBA's presence in a booth in the exhibit hall drew a crowd.

JDPlus initiative gets a webpage
|
JDPlus, this year's flagship project of the Law Practice Management Division, hopes to contribute toward bridging the growing gap between the costly training that law schools provide and the needs of legal graduates, employers and consumers of legal services. A new project webpage, with content developed by the JDPlus Task Force, aims to inform and involve VBA members.

Have insurance needs? Here's an option
|
Virginia Barristers Alliance Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the VBA. Its associates understand lawyers and judges as well as law firm needs. Health, dental, life, disability and long-term care products are available. And, because the VBA created Virginia Barristers Alliance, our members benefit from group rates and negotiated discounts with highly rated providers. Additionally, when you do business with the insurer, Barristers Alliance provides non-dues revenue that supports the VBA. It's a win-win arrangement. Call (800) 358-7987.
