KCC has the honor of being asked to sing at Dr. Warfield's memorial service on June 17.
Dear New Orleans Choir Families:

It was with great sadness that KCC announces the passing of Dr. Charles Warfield.  A retired Western Michigan University educator and president of the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the NAACP, Dr.Warfield passed away this past Sunday, June 5, 2016 with family members by his side.

Just two weeks earlier on May 22, Dr. Warfield attended the Infant Mortality Fundraiser at Galilee Baptist Church.  For those of you who were there you may recall Dr. Warfield.  He spoke to our singers and made a memorable reference to choirs of "different hues."

Dr. Warfield was very impressed with your children and our choir.  He also knew that he was very ill and he told his wife that it was his wish that KCC preform at his memorial service.  Mr. Sang was notified of the request today and immediately agreed to fulfill Dr. Warfield's wish.  This is a great honor for the Kalamazoo Children's Chorus and you should be very proud of your children.

Dr. Warfield's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 17 at Miller Auditorium.  Call time is 6 PM and the service should be over by 8:30 PM.  The choir will preform two songs, including Happy Land and another from their current repertoire, to be determined next week.

We understand that this is a busy time for everyone and that some of you may not be able to attend.  If you can, please e-mail Mr. Sang immediately so he knows exactly who will be able to sing at this important ceremony.

Sincerely,

Leona Gould-McElhone
Outreach Director
