Letter from the HAPS President
I'm writing to let you know of an important development. This spring, HAPS Board of Directors and Executive Director Larry Spraggs parted company. The board is sincerely appreciative of Larry's efforts on behalf of HAPS over the past two years and wish him well in his future endeavors.
We have recently undertaken a search for Executive Director and expect to have the position filled later in the fall. To aid us in the search, we have redefined the Director's job description and have begun discussing how best to advance some of our most important initiatives, including redesign of the HAPS website, expansion of HAPS-Institute, maintenance of the HAPS Archive, and increasing the assets of the HAPS Foundation. We'll be working closely with all of our committees during this transitional period and, as always, look to the support of our membership.
The position announcement for Executive Director will appear soon, in the HAPS listserve and in many other locations. If you know of someone who might meet our needs, please feel free to pass the description along.
Thanks to all for your support of HAPS!
|HAPS 2012 Election Results|
A big thank you goes out to the nearly 200 HAPS members who voted in the 2012 elections. This was a record turnout, and it resulted in our first-ever tie and tie-breaker vote at the annual conference business meeting. Congratulations go to the winners:
President-elect: Valerie O'Loughlin
Treasurer: Elizabeth Becker (re-elected)
Eastern Regional Director: Javanika (Javni) Mody
Western Regional Director: Anne Geller (re-elected)
All of the votes were very close, and we appreciate the willingness of the other candidates to run so that we had a choice for each position: Thank you to Karen McMahon, Christine Eckel, Elizabeth Hodgson, and Mark Nielsen.
And finally, thank you to my nominating committee that helped gently twist arms to find willing candidates: Murray Jensen, Kevin Petti, and John Waters.
