Connecting Community

Our Garden Keeps on Growing

We have determined that a community garden in Highland Park is not only possible, but feasible and much needed. The produce grew abundantly and provided fresh produce to community residents and Fire House 15 Cafe. We continue to see people from the community perusing the garden and harvesting its fruit. Now that we have a better handle on it, we look forward to the harvest of 2014 and will begin planting our fall produce soon. See our update here.

Volunteer Spotlight

Carolyn: First Impressions Volunteer

Carolyn Scott, a Highland Park resident, serves as our receptionist each afternoon. With her previous experience as a telephone operator, she was a great fit for our First Impressions team. She said, "You need something to get you up in the morning. I live in walking distance and I remembered when Boaz & Ruth opened. I understood they did a lot of good things in the community." Having a sister who is dedicated to working with young inmates, Carolyn has a deep connection to the mission of Boaz & Ruth. Learn more about her here.

Boaz & Ruth participates in United Way (code 5017), the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (code 3491) and Federal employees CFC (code 16046). We'd love to be part of your monthly giving!
