HAPPENINGS

Sunday School: Summer Sunday School will continue through August 21. Sunday School for children in Pre-K - 5th grade will resume on September 18.

Creation Care Committee's Green Tip of the Week: Most of us know that eating a lot of meat isn't good for the environment or our health. Beef is the biggest impact, requiring 28 times more land, 11 times more water, and causing 5 times more global warming emissions than pork or chicken. But all meat-rich diets cause about twice the environmental impacts of a vegetable- or fish-based diet. Yet each American downs about 200 total pounds of meat per year, up about 50 pounds per year over what we ate 50 years ago.

Mass on the Grass with Brass & Annual Picnic - September 11 at 10:00 am:
Music will be led by the St. Paul's Brass Quintet and Trinity Choir on the east lawn. The annual picnic in Bush park will follow immediately after the service.

Wednesday Night Live (WNL): Don't forget to mark your calendars! WNL Soup Suppers will begin, along with many of the fall activities, on Wednesday, September 14th - with dinner served at 6:15 pm. We will have back our professional chef, Marq Swafford, to delight us with his culinary creations! I (Dawn) will be there as the very capable assistant. However, due to a personal commitment, I will not be able to attend on the 3rd Wednesday of each month so we are looking for volunteers to help.

Assistants would help Marq with some of these tasks: Table settings (before dinner), Serving (during dinner), Clean up (after dinner).

Other tasks that would be helpful: Shopping for groceries (Will be reimbursed for costs), Cooking (Gives Marq an occasional night off to just go to chapel and then eat), Driving Marq home (He lives about a mile from the church).

If you can help with any of these areas, please contact me and I'll get you on the calendar. -Dawn Manke: ph/text - 503-393-6175 / email: [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you on September 10. The Rt. Rev. Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will be the keynote speaker.
