CHI-YO
St. Paul's continues with its annual summer tradition of making a Vietnamese Spring Roll called "Chi-yo" during the Salem Art Fair (July 17, 18, 19). Over 200 volunteers are needed to chop, prep, roll, cook and deliver this delicious commodity to hungry patrons in Bush Park. Morning, early afternoon and late afternoon shifts are available on those days if you are able to volunteer. Please call Paul Klemme at 503-362-3661, ext. 310 and leave a message if you are able to help.
SERVICE CHANGES
We will be continuing to have our principal worship service at 7:30 am and 10:00 am through the fall and beyond. We will also be changing the feel of the midweek Eucharist to a Celtic-inspired service featuring various musicians, and we will also be discontinuing the Taize service. More information about the new Wednesday service, with other services to come, will be forthcoming in September.
ALL PARISH POTLUCK
The potluck will be on Sunday July 26, 2015 following the church service on the patio. Come with your best recipe (Maybe from our cookbook?). Please bring at least 5 servings and tell us what is in the recipe (for our friends who are gluten free / or allergic to certain ingredients.) Come relax and catch up with friends during the mid-summer and rest from Chi-yo. Parish Life will provide set ups.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Bored, looking for excitement? We have office vacancies available. No skills required, but if you have some that is great. We can utilize any skills. You can volunteer weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for one -four hours. For more information contact Kati at [email protected] or 503-362-3661.
NOOK AND CRANNY CLEANING
We will be cleaning our FINAL closet! We invite you to join us on Sunday, August 9th at 12:30 to clean out the table/chair storage closet in Steinberg Hall. Doesn't that sound fun?! Bring a broom (we will provide the face masks). Yes, the closet is THAT dirty. We will have everything from the closet spread out over the gym floor so this is a project that won't be kid friendly - too many hazards. Questions? Call Lynda Bush 503-391-6267 or [email protected]
OUTREACH SCHOOL SUPPLIES
I know summer is not yet over but the school supply sales are starting and this year the Outreach Committee has the ambitious plan to provide for both our on-going commitment to McKinley Grade School, our local neighborhood school; and The Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Women's Crisis Center). Everyone can participate by purchasing school supplies and donating them.
Some sales I spotted:
Staples
-School (white) glue - $.10/ea, limit of 5
-Glue sticks - 4 pk $.25/ea, limit of 6
-Spiral Notebooks - $.25/ea, limit of 30
These are just a few examples so please buy often as you can as soon as you can and let's make this a great start for many children's school year.
Thanking you in advance for your generosity, -Dawn Manke, Outreach Chair
