PALM CROSS MAKING WORKSHOP

Saturday, March 28th at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall you are invited to help make the 450 crosses blessed for all Palm Sunday services. We especially invite children to come to learn this tradition.  Blessed crosses and fronds will be saved to make ashes for next Ash Wednesday.  Instructions and refreshments will be provided. Come join the fun!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Today in Children's Chapel and Sunday School we are continuing our Lenten series. Next week, Palm Sunday, we will present A Journey Through Holy Week for all children at the 9:00 a.m. service. Meet with the rest of the congregation for the Palm Procession, then we will break off and continue our journey through the washing of the disciples' feet, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. This program will also be presented at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1.

DINNER FOR EIGHT

Sign up between the 9:00 & 11:00 am services on March 22 & 29 for Dinner for Eight. This is a fun way to get to know each other while enjoying meals together.

EASTER PLANTS

Donations for Easter plants that decorate the church may be made at the church office during office hours. Please be sure to give the staff the name of those who are to be remembered. The deadline for donations will be April 2nd.

MAUNDY THURSDAY SUPPER

Please join us for Maundy Thursday Soup Supper at 5:30 p.m.  in the Parish Hall on Thursday, March 26. Come enjoy lentil and tomato soups, humus, gold fish, and dried fruits.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

We will be discussing two books, An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor and The Rebirthing of God by John Phillip Newell.  The books are available at The Book Bin Reading these books is not required to join the class.  We all learn from each other.

LENTEN LABYRINTH

Come make a Lenten pilgrimage at St. Paul's!  Walking a labyrinth is an active way to pray as we seek to grow closer to God.  St. Paul's Youth will be setting up the labyrinth in the gym and it will be available 9 am until noon on Friday and all day Sunday during Lent.  It will be available for the entire day on Good Friday.  There will be a printed guide on hand but it's not complicated.  It's not a maze.  There is only one path to the center and then back out again.  Walk, breathe, pray and may you find peace and closeness to God as you go.

VIGIL AT THE ALTAR OF REPOSE

Lent is coming to an end and Easter is arriving soon. Join the Vigil at the Altar of Repose in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd for an hour or more between the Maundy Thursday service and 8 am Good Friday.

A parishioner will be present during the night to provide access through the outside doors.

There is a sign up sheet outside the Chapel. If two people are already signed up for an hour you want to be part of add your name, too, or just come.

Spending an hour (or more) in the Chapel is a great way to bridge the gap between Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and help prepare for Easter.

LENTEN CARBON TIP

According to the EPA, gasoline lawn mowers cause about 5 percent of the nation's emissions. This pollution is particularly concentrated in the larger cities. This emission of carbon and other gases is made worse by the concentrated fertilizers and heavy watering most lawns require. There are three things you can do to lessen this problem: One, consider an electric lawn mower. Electricity isn't carbon free, of course, but in the northwest it causes much less carbon than all those individual gas mowers. Two, consider converting some of your lawn to beds of permanent, native shrubs or trees. These plants use less water and fertilizer and actually capture carbon from the air. Three, mow less often and mow higher. This also saves fuel, water and fertilizer.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES

A reminder that assistive listening devices are available during all services. Just ask for one from the person operating the sound system at the back of the nave. Operating the listening devices is fairly intuitive, and the sound-system operator will be happy to answer your questions.
