Joplin High School senior Marlee Lake recently earned a Golden Lion Award for exemplary community service. Marlee serves as a Peer Buddy at JHS. Peer Buddies are paired with students with special needs and work closely with them to help with school work and skills that promote independence such as grocery shopping. Marlee also serves as a cadet teacher for a kindergarten class and plans to pursue a career as a special education teacher after graduation. Congratulations Marlee!

FFA students explore talents and learn valuable life skills at annual Greenhand conference

Several members of Joplin High Schools' FFA organization recently attended the annual Greenhand Motivational Conference presented by State FFA Officers. During the conference, students participated in interactive workshops that helped them explore their talents and set goals for their education, careers, and FFA experience. They learned about ways to become positive role models, make sound choices, and make a positive difference in their lives, school, and community.

FFA is a national youth organization of over 629,000 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.
Elementary school parents, we need your input!

It's time for the annual Title I Parent Survey. This survey is for all Joplin Schools' parents with students in elementary school. It takes less than five minutes and helps us learn more about your experience at our schools. It also helps us to fulfill one of the parent engagement requirements for Title I schools. Thank you for helping us to improve our schools. We appreciate your feedback!

Title I is a federal program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools who serve high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. The purpose is to help ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and assessments.
