Preparing for 2017 Open Enrollment
In preparing for open enrollment, health plan sponsors should be aware of requirements and changes in benefit plan design, administration, and reporting for the 2017 plan year. Now is the time to review plan documents to confirm that these required changes are included.

It is also important to confirm that open enrollment materials contain all required participant notices, where applicable. Some participant notices must be provided annually or upon initial enrollment. To reduce cost and streamline administration, consider including these notices in open enrollment materials, when applicable.

Important Change in Flu Vaccine Coverage

Recent studies have shown that the intranasal (spray) vaccine is not effective in preventing flu, and is therefore unsafe. Effective July 1, 2016 it is no longer covered. Standard injections are still covered at no cost.

QualChoice follows the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) suggested list of services to be offered at no cost in a "wellness exam." This includes the standard flu vaccine injection and other recommended screenings. View our Preventive Care Benefit tables.
