In this issue we will focus on Hogar Carlos de Villegas in La Paz Bolivia.
Hogar Carlos de Villegas is an orphanage that supports some 100 children aged 0 to 19 years old.
Sister Rosario Arano is the director of the home and has worked at Carlos de Villegas since 1970.
Hogar Carlos de Villegas currently provides a shelter and a home to 25 babies under 1, 5 children aged 1 to 5, 12 children aged 6 to 8, 13 children aged 9 to 12, 14 adolescents aged 15 to 17 and 11 young adults aged 18 to 19.
The babies, many of whom have been abandoned are left at the orphanage's doorstep (where there is a turnstile and doorbell), 
or have been found abandoned and brought in by the police. Others have been brought in from the hospital, where they were left after their mothers gave birth.
Many of the older children come from dysfunctional families or have been abused. They are offered counseling, medical care, religious education, and a safe, loving environment, and are cared for by the Sisters, doctor, and psychologist that are on staff. Many of the girls attend nearby schools in La Paz.
It costs around $85 per month to provide basic food medical care, clothing and education for each child. The government provides a small % of the funds needed to care for the children and the nuns managing the home have to fundraise to make up the shortfall. They are dependent on the generosity of donors and supporters to make hands meet by the end of each month.
At Carlos de Villegas ACC offers a group sponsorship.
Sponsors regularly receive an update on a number of children at the home . We always need more sponsors. Please encourage your friends, work colleages or relatives to sponsor a child.
