A Remarkable Year!
Dear Friends of ASSIST,
The 2012/13 program year was a remarkable one for ASSIST. As you will note from the accounts in this annual report, we set historic highs in every conceivable dimension, from Scholars to schools to a new record in the Annual Fund.
This annual report provides me an opportunity to thank each of you who has contributed to ASSIST. We thrive because donors and volunteers are invested in our mission; you are the pillars that support the ASSIST program.
With sincere regards,
Richard P. Hall
Chair, ASSIST Board of Directors

A Thank You from the Development Committee Chair
Dear Friends of ASSIST,
I want to extend my thanks to the many donors around the world who made our fundraising campaign in 2012/13 so successful. More than 30% of our operating budget derives from donations, and a successful campaign means offering more opportunities to more of our amazing Scholars.
I look forward to writing you again in a year and hope to report that current donors have continued their support, that we have added new donors in great numbers, and that we have set new fundraising records.
With best regards,
Andrew C. Pilaro
Chair, Development and Alumni Relations Committee

Donor Profile: Pamela Thye

Pamela was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1992. Having lived in Germany for 20 years and having traveled extensively around the world, she is keenly aware of the importance and enjoyment of stepping inside other cultures, appreciating differences, and recognizing the human qualities that are the same the world over. ASSIST was a perfect Board fit for Pamela's talents and commitment, both to education and to global citizenship.
Her contributions to ASSIST have been numerous. In her position as Vice Chair, she has played an important role in framing ASSIST's future. As a donor, she sponsors a Scholar each year, has hosted a number of receptions in New York City, has made key gifts to redesign our website and to have all of our brochures professionally designed, and makes a leadership gift to the Annual Fund. Younger alumni will remember the ASSIST backpacks they received at Orientation; Pamela has made them possible. When asked what she wished for ASSIST, Pamela replied: "Continuing excellence, greater international opportunities, and the increasing support of alumni to ensure the financial sustainability of ASSIST into the future."

Thank You, Mr. Lenfest!
Dear Mr. Lenfest,
Thank you for this opportunity you have given me to open my eyes to a whole new perspective on life, and which taught me, and teaches me and will teach me a lot from which I may benefit in my life! I cannot even express how much I admire your generosity and how thankful I am for putting your trust in me! I have had the honor to meet so many wonderful people at my school, people who I study with, people who I compete with, people who are making my life here so special.
At Cross Country, I have learned that what really matters in life is the actual journey. Mr. Lenfest, thanks to you, I am able to walk on the correct path of my life journey! THANK YOU!
Best regards,
Matus Petrovsky '13, Peddie School, Slovakia

Sizable Gift Grows ASSIST Endowment
We are pleased to announce a $25,000 gift to the endowment from the CAP Foundation, which also made a $25,000 gift to the Annual Fund. Director Andrew Pilaro, Chair of the Alumni and Development Committee, facilitated both gifts. Securing gifts to the endowment are a strategic priority for ASSIST, as they provide consistent income upon which a reliable budget may be based.
ASSIST receives restricted and unrestricted gifts to the endowment, often made with shares of stock, which can offer extra tax savings advantages to the donor. Please contact Bob Stanley (bob@assist-inc.org) if you would like to discuss making a gift to the endowment.

Generous Bequest Received
During the past year, ASSIST received a generous bequest of $100,000 from the estate of Mrs. Alice Blake. Mrs. Blake had a lifelong interest in education and came to know of ASSIST through her friendship with Ken and Betsy Lindfors, President Emeritus and Vice President Emerita. Mrs. Blake's bequest has been added to the endowment to help secure ASSIST's future.
Planned gifts are a powerful vehicle through which to make substantial contributions to ASSIST. Donors who notify us that they have made ASSIST part of their estate plan are enrolled in the Lindfors Society.
The Lindfors Society includes:
Carlyle* and Elizabeth Barnes
| Timothy and Rhonda McIntire
| Mrs. Alice Blake*
| Mrs. Peter Skoufis
| Mrs. Elizabeth Ernst Fosbinder*
| J. Wood Rutter
| Richard and Carol Hall
| Andrew and Molly Wooden
| Kenneth and Betsy Lindfors
