A Word From Our President

Over the past several years Carson Health has experienced a decline in reimbursements due to the impact of cuts from the federal budget sequestration and ongoing changes related to healthcare reform. Additionally, a stagnant economy and low regional growth has caused a decline in Patient volume. Carson Health has proactively worked to reduce spending on supplies and equipment, implement best practices, standardize processes and improve productivity.

Unfortunately, these efforts were not enough and we recently had to reduce staff. These decisions were considered carefully and deliberately. Through attrition, position elimination and transfers, there were 56 impacted associates.  The reductions have not eliminated any patient services. Please be assured that we are continuing to focus on patient satisfaction, safety, quality and growth for this organization. The reduction in staffing will not impact the quality of care provided here at Carson Health.

Summer Safety Tips

Please remember these tips to ensure a safe summer.

  1. Never swim alone.
  2. If you are caught in a current, swim parallel to the shore until you feel the current relax, then swim to shore.
  3. When packing food in a cooler, place it in tight, waterproof bags or containers.
  4. Keep raw foods separate from cooked foods.
  5. Build fires only in fire rings, stoves or fireplaces.
  6. When barbecuing, keep a fire extinguisher handy.
  7. Cook foods to recommended temperatures.
  8. Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
  9. Keep a bucket of water or garden hose close if you have a campfire or you are lighting off fireworks.
  10. Remember, sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees - hot enough to melt some metals.
