Dear Friends,
It's "bud break" season, from grapevines to native trees and shrubs, and we have been watching the beautiful almond bloom on our way to the office daily. Soon, the plums across the road will be bright pink with blossoms as well! We are all hoping for more rain, of course, to continue to replenish reservoirs, creeks, sloughs, and our groundwater basins.
While its not Spring yet (per the calendar), the organization is certainly full of energy. In the next few weeks, we have some pretty important activities on our plates, that give us the opportunity to share our story and our work with thousands (at least 17,000!) of new people.
This Saturday, Executive Director Mary Kimball and Development Director Christine McMorrow will be part of Social Venture Partners of Sacramento Fast Pitch event at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento (
http://www.svpsacramento.org/fast-pitch/2015-fast-pitch-nonprofits/). While we weren't chosen to present our final pitch, we will be able to showcase the Center for Land-Based Learning and our work to promote agriculture to hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators that are looking to invest in positive approaches to supporting our region.
If you'd like to support us without being there, we have a great way for you to help out! An online "People's Choice Award" is available, and for every $1 donated, Center for Land-Based Learning gets a vote! This award is $1,000, and, we get 70% of the money raised from the voting that is donated as well. Every vote counts!

Voting ends Friday March 4 at 11 p.m.
Community Impact Night with the Sacramento Kings
All Land-Based Learning staff, plus student participants in the FARMS Leadership, SLEWS, Growing Green, and Caring for our Watersheds Programs, and beginning farmers in our California Farm Academy, are gearing up for our COMMUNITY IMPACT NIGHT with the Sacramento Kings on March 11th! This night is going to be all about us and we've dubbed it a "Celebration of Agriculture". We will have displays in the front of Sleep Train Arena as people enter, educational tables on the concourse, and throughout the game itself there will be all kinds of fun games, giveaways, trivia, a text-to-donate campaign, a chefs vs. farmers basketball game, and more - that all focus on agriculture, our work, and a celebration of our programs. Tickets for this evening are still available - for more information go to our website information page
http://landbasedlearning.org/SacKings/. We can't wait to share Center for Land-Based Learning with over 17,000 Kings fans! Follow along on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), and the hashtag #AgProud for all of the fun.
We are very proud to share all of this great news with you, our friends and supporters. Enjoy these beautiful "Spring" days and thank you so much for your continued passion and commitment to our work.
Best,
