Dear Friends & Supporters,

It has been a long hot summer, but hints of fall are in the air here at Land-Based Learning as we are already thinking about all that is Farm-to-Fork during the month of September.

However, we couldn't wait for September--we started the celebration early with Sactown Magazine. Check out the August/September issue in which we collaborated with many of our partners to create a very special advertising section titled: "The Real World Behind Farm-to-Fork: How the Center for Land-Based Learning is Shaping the Future of Agriculture". We were able to tell this story because of advertising support of our partners-Rabobank, Nugget Market, Raley's, CA Safe Soil, Fulcrum Property, Bayer Crop Science, Valley Truck and Tractor, Park Winters, Wells Fargo, Discover Winters, and California Walnuts.

In this section you can read stories of our alumni who have made careers in agriculture; from FARMS Leadership alum, Cristal Verduzco who now has a career with Driscoll's to our California Farm Academy graduates who have started their own farm businesses throughout the region. Learn how we got to where we are today and how our work is evolving to meet the growing demand to fulfill nearly 58,000 new jobs STEM jobs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in agriculture each year. These stories exemplify our work and our passion for agriculture, the environment and the future.

In closing, I want to let you know that we are gearing up for our Fall Dinner on the Farm which will be September 13. Like last year, this year's fall dinner will be off the Farm. We are thrilled to be hosting this dinner at the location of our new, second office in the Bridge District in West Sacramento. Chef Allyson Harvie, culinary director for LowBrau & Block Butcher Bar and chef Fred Reyes from Buckhorn Steakhouse will serve up a seasonally inspired meal. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, August 13. I'll look forward to seeing you there!

With Thanks,

Christine McMorrow
Director of Development and Communications
