Barry Streib Joins At-Large Race
The Founder, President and Chair of the Thunder Bay Marathon - Miles with the Giant, Barry Streib has announced his candidacy for an At-Large position with Thunder Bay City Council in the municipal election on October 27th.

As his extensive resume can attest, Barry is an altruistic leader within the region and is passionate about the opportunities that face our community. He has proven time and again that he has the capacity to produce, turning ideas into successful, longstanding community events. We wish him all the best with his campaign!

NEW for 2014! Course Detour

Miles with the Giant 2014 will have a slightly different course as the Court Street bridge over McVicar creek will be under construction. Plans for the new route are being confirmed with the City of Thunder Bay and will be announced closer to the date.  This construction detour also means our course will not be Athletics Canada certified for 2014.

Students! Musicians! Dancers! We need you!

The Miles with the Giant race weekend provides many great ways for local high school students to get involved in this exciting running event.

Need volunteer hours towards a school credit?

Help out on race weekend as a volunteer for set-up and take down, at runner registration, to provide direction along the race course, or at runner storage/lost & found.

Want to run the event?

Register to run individually or enter a school team of 5 people in the marathon-relay.  School teams will compete for coveted bragging rights and a trophy to display in your school's trophy case.

Musicians, Dancers & Cheerleaders:

We need entertainers to keep up the energy and cheer on the participants along the race course and at the start/finish line.  Street performers, DJ's, bands, cheerleaders and dance teams are all welcome to do what they do best for our runners and spectators. It is an excellent avenue to get their talent noticed within the community.

Fundraising Opportunity for Sports & Community Groups

Miles with the Giant will donate funds to any Not-for-Profit organization or sports' team who can provide a minimum of ten, 18+ volunteers to act as road marshals on race day. We want to work in partnership with organizations throughout the city to improve the event for Thunder Bay; while supporting the projects and goals of various organizations in the community.

We encourage dressing up in your uniforms, t-shirts, painting your face, playing music, bringing your banner and having fun while encouraging the race participants and promoting your own organization! It is great exposure for your organization and a quick and exciting way to make some extra funds for your own fundraising initiatives.
