Is Telework a Valuable Engagement Tool?
Summertime is finally here. Many people we know are looking for ways to maximize their work-life balance, while still maintaining a high level of performance.

One tool we use at DAI is telework. For employees, some benefits of teleworking are clear, like increased flexibility and shorter commute times. But is telework also a useful tool for employers? Our human capital consultants researched this topic and identified several surprising answers.

Check out our infographic to learn how telework increases employee engagement.

Four Traits of Effective Performance Management
An integral component of effectively managing human capital is nurturing the performance, unique skills and diverse talents of an organization's most valuable asset - its people. Over the last several years, there has been a ground swell of interest in performance management.

As a small business, DAI knows how critical it is to help each of our consultants achieve high performance. As a human capital management company, we have supported the federal government in its efforts to better align individual performance with organizational goals.

Here are some lessons we've learned along the way:

  • Helping employees see the big picture and where they fit in is critical to ensuring employees are focused on the right things.
  • Communicating early and often removes barriers and addresses issues before they become problems.
  • Recognizing and rewarding employees is more than just a monetary exercise. Congratulating employees when they do good work is often the key to inspiring better work.
  • Focusing on measuring the right things leads employees to focus on the right things.

This is just the starting point for any effective performance management program. Interested in learning more about our approach to performance management? Contact us today at [email protected].

Go Virtual: Bring Information Sharing to Life
For most government, commercial, and non-profit organizations, bringing people together is an essential part of their mission. However, a number of factors, such as shrinking budgets, limited travel and the need for more frequent touch points with constituents have increasingly led organizations to seek alternatives to in-person events.

So how can you advance your mission in this environment? Go virtual.

Our event management consultants are experts in planning and producing virtual events. To learn more about how any organization - from a large government agency to a small business - can benefit from virtual events, check out this white paper from the DAI team: http://www.dai-solutions.com/pdf/DAI_GoVirtual.pdf

Congratulations to the 2015 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award Recipients!
Late last month, the Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) announced this year's recipients of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. This award is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

DAI provides ongoing social media, marketing and event support for ESGR, a Department of Defense office. We are proud to have planned, executed and managed the annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award ceremony for the past two years. This support included coordinating with employer and service member guests, developing branded event materials, invitations, programs, web content, advertising and awards, and providing press support. DAI is currently planning the 2015 Freedom Award ceremony, which will be held later this summer at the Pentagon.

To see the full list of this year's recipients visit the Freedom Award website. Congratulations to these outstanding employers!
