DAI employees Vonnetta Cornish, Christopher Hargrove, Tom Hight and Lamont Rooker volunteered at the 2nd Annual Blue Hope Bash at the Park Hyatt in Washington, DC. The soiree, hosted by the Chris4 Life Colon Cancer Foundation, is an opportunity to express gratitude to the many who fight for a cure, hope for those who have survived the disease and compassion for those who have lost loved ones.
It was a magical evening as the more than 300 attendees--all decked out in blue--sipped on signature blue cocktails, dined in the blue ballroom and bid on silent auction items like a Redskins jersey personally autographed by rookie phenom Robert Griffin III or an autographed photo of 21-time gold medalist Micha
The Chris4 Life Colon Cancer Foundation's principal goal is to permanently eliminate the threat of colon cancer through the discovery of a cure. For more information about Chris4 Life visit

Award Central! The DAI-produced Department of Veterans Affairs PIV Card Promotional Video has won another award! The video, which educates employees, contractors and affiliates about the importance of complying with NSPD-12 and PIV card requirements, has won a Peer Award from the Television, Internet and Video Association (TIVA) of DC. Each year TIVA announces their Peer Awards, recognizing the best in locally produced TV, Internet, video, film, and audio work in dozens of categories (training videos, educational broadcasts, PSAs, documentary-related content, entertainment, and more). Peer Award winners will be honored on November 17 during an elegant ceremony at the National Press Club.
DAI was also recognized with several 2012 MarCom awards from the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals. Our Emergency Preparedness communications work conducted under the DVA's Career and Technical Training (CTT) contract won two awards: a platinum award for the Emergency Preparedness Communications Plan, and a gold award for the Emergency Preparedness Training Launch Campaign/Marketing Materials.
The Formal Writing Using Plain Language program--also under CTT--received honorable mentions for the program launch plan and campaign products.

The MarCom Awards are a creative competition for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and Web materials and programs. Entries, now numbering at around 6,000 per year, come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.
Congratulations all!

DAI at Thrive DC
On Thursday, November 8, DAI employees Dana Alderson and Brandon Edmonds volunteered at Thrive DC, helping to serve dinner on "Ladies Karaoke Night." The night began with participants singing their favorite gospel songs and then progressed into an all-out karaoke sing-off featuring songs from the Beatles and the Mamas and Papas. When asked about her future karaoke aspirations, Dana Alderson mentioned that she hopes to "request a duet." Thrive DC's mission is to prevent and end homelessness by providing vulnerable individuals with a comprehensive range of services to help stabilize their lives.
