DAI President and CEO, Sheri Dougherty, and Vice President, Finance and Administration, Antoinette Merrill, attended SmartCEO magazine's book launch event for Smart CEO 100 Best-Run Companies. Held at Nationals Park, SmartCEO 100 members and their guests were able to practice their swings in the batting cages, try their luck racing the "presidents," and relax in the home team's dugout!

The SmartCEO100 program honors Mid-Atlantic companies and CEOs that are leaders within their industries and have experienced consistent growth. Dr. Dougherty has been a member since November 2010, when she was named to SmartCEO's Smart 100 list. Smart100 members have a passion for entrepreneurship and share SmartCEO's mission of educating and inspiring business owners through the sharing of insight and experience.

Welcome to the October edition! We are pleased to announce that DAI was awarded a contract to support the National Archives with communications audit services. We held our "DAI's Got Talent" event previewed in last month's Advisor. DAI team members have had a busy month giving back to the community, and we attended a SmartCEO100 book launch at Nationals Park! Thank you for supporting the DAI Advisor and remember, past editions can always be accessed on our archive page.

DAI Wins Communications Audit Contract

DAI was awarded a contract by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to provide strategic communications audit services. The work will support NARA by evaluating its internal and external communications practices and processes and providing recommendations to improve NARA's future communications methods and activities.

As part of this effort, DAI will analyze NARA's communications plans and materials, assess the agency's current use of the media and provide consulting support to align NARA's strategic communications methods and practices with industry best practices.

"We are very pleased to offer our strategic communications consulting services to NARA," said Paula Antonovich, DAI's executive vice president. "This is our first opportunity to work with NARA and we look forward to helping provide clarity for their future communications work." Read full release here.

DAI's Got Talent a Big Success

Captain DAI (Bruce Hall, left) and Commodore Quality (Jennifer Lemmert) come to the rescue in a DAI's Got Talent skit.
The entire DAI team assembled at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town, Alexandria on October 11 for "DAI's Got Talent," a night of hilarity and team building. The only requirement was that performances reflect DAI's corporate values. The six team performances included skits, newscasts, debates, musical numbers and a rap video!

The event was a big success, with enthusiastic participation and wonderfully creative performances. The winning team, with a performance that followed the rags-to-riches tale of a successful rap group (who only got successful after embracing DAI's commitment to excellence) enjoyed a limousine tour of D.C. followed by dinner at Landini Brothers in Old Town.
