Dear Colleagues:
This seminar, presented by UC San Diego School of Medicine and GrassrootsHealth, has been developed as an educational opportunity to present and discuss the science of vitamin D and sunshine. The objective of the meeting is to leave with an implementation plan for your group – using vitamin D and sunshine to optimize health.

What benefits does the sun provide other than vitamin D?
What's the risk/benefit of vitamin D and sunshine for health?
What's the implementation plan for public health organizations?
What does the research tell us about prevention of preterm births, prostate cancer, and breast cancer?
What measurements can help move science into action?

Target Audience
This educational program is designed for MD/DO’s, Scientists/Researchers, NP/PA/Nurses, Psychologists, Therapists of all specialties.
This seminar is also great for leaders of medical groups, hospitals, public health departments, community centers, and insurance companies - anyone who is concerned about reducing the cost of disease in their population.

Cultural and Linguistic Competency: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires continuing medical education activities with patient care components to include curriculum in the subjects of cultural and linguistic competency. Cultural competency is defined as a set of integrated attitudes, knowledge, and skills that enables health care professionals or organizations to care effectively for patients from diverse cultures, groups, and communities. Linguistic competency is defined as the ability of a physician or surgeon to provide patients who do not speak English or who have limited ability to speak English, direct communication in the patient’s primary language. Cultural and linguistic competency was incorporated into the planning of this activity. Additional resources can be found on the UC San Diego CME web site.
