Just Think Outside
...the place for creativity
Welcome

It is officially spring in northeast Tennessee but it will be several weeks until the flowers and trees begin to bloom.

Below are some of my spring images that I hope will bring forth a smile as we await the buds, blossoms and blooms.

Take care,

Jeffrey

Buds, Blossoms and Blooms

  And Visions of...

Wild ponies roam the Grayson Highlands in southwest Virginia.  This young foal dropped off to sleep after wearing himself out running around the mountaintop balds along the Appalachian Trail.  Looks like he is having sweet dreams.

  Blossoms and Blooms

The hike up to North Carolina's Craggy Gardens on a foggy morning is a magical experience.  Upon reaching the Gardens I was greeted by wild Catawba rhododendron appearing out of the mist.

 Spring Abounds

This wonderful old farmhouse is in southwest Virginia.  I would love to know about the lives of the people who lived there.

  Turkey in the Cove

Though we usually associate turkeys with the fall and harvest time, this colorful gentleman was photographed in the spring while surrounded by buttercups.  The image was made in Cades Cove - Great Smoky Mountains.

  Shades of Red and Yellow

There was a slight low hanging fog over the pond when I arrived to make images of the daylilies. As the sun began to rise the fog increased and the warm glow transformed the scene from pretty to ethereal.

It was a beautiful experience I was lucky to witness.

Highland Dawn

No collection of spring images from this region is complete without an image from Roan Mountain.  This was made near Round Bald and shows the wild Catawba rhododendron and flame azalea with the mountains of North Carolina in the distance.

Blossoms and blooms

On the waft of morning mist,
the morning dew freshens the day
as birds' morning songs jumble
in a boiling pot of notes.

The heavy sweet scent of lilacs' bloom
takes me to where I once lived and
the white four-petaled flower on gnarled limbs
takes me to the dogwood days of my youth.

Daytime descends,
where limbs lace and
treetop branches brush the blush
of the evening sky.

As moments turn to days and
seasons to years,
memories remain of life
passed into past.

What's ahead
when the blossoms and blooms will once again
sweeten my nose and caress my eye and
sunrise and moonset bookend the morning sky?
