Daylily is the common name for plants of the genus Hemerocallis.  The name comes from the Greek words ἡμέρα (hēmera) "day" and καλός (kalos) "beautiful" - so named because most daylily flowers bloom for only one day.    

  

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph at Oakes Daylilies prior to their annual Daylily Bloom Festival.

 

I arrived at their farm just prior to sunrise and was delighted to see some low hanging fog.  The sun rose and the added warmth caused the fog to increase which created wonderful conditions for making images at this beautiful location.  

 

As I made my way around the grounds I was struck by the breathtaking color and variety of their flowers and was thankful for the experience.
