...the place for creativity
Welcome

In 2013 I participated in the first annual Carousel Fine Craft Show in Kingsport TN.  I will be exhibiting again this year and was honored to be asked to be on the jury to select the artists for 2014.

The artists participating in this year's show create amazing work and I encourage you to attend.  The Brass Ring Gala is Friday evening March 21st and the show is Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  You can find out more about the show at the Engage Kingsport website.

I am working on a new grouping of images of the wild ponies of Grayson Highlands for the show.  You can see some of them below.

I am excited to announce that my photography can now be found in Knoxville TN at Gallery Nuance.  The gallery is located at 121 South Gay Street across from The Emporium.

The gallery carries a wonderful selection of art and a great time to visit is during Knoxville's First Fridays.  The next one is on  March 7.  The streets are filled with people enjoying the art and restaurant venues.  It's a great time!

For those living in the southeast I hope to see you at the Carousel Fine Craft Show the weekend of March 21st.

Companions

As I photographed a small herd of wild ponies I noticed these two spent most of their time together. They played, rested and sometimes just companionably strolled along the Appalachian Trail side by side.

                                                 Just a Country Boy

When I saw this wild pony walking along the Appalachian Trail with a blade of grass in his mouth it reminded me of growing up in the country.  We'd break off a blade of wild grass, stick it between our teeth, and head out to explore the countryside.

Buttercup

Spring is a beautiful time to hike the Appalachian Trail across the Grayson Highlands; the warmth of spring after a long winter, wildflowers and most importantly the ponies.

                                                Bathed in Sunlight

I hiked the Appalachian Trail across the Grayson Highlands in the predawn hours of an autumn day so I could be in position to photograph the wild ponies that graze near Rhododendron Gap.  I found the herd and photographed this young pony just as he was bathed in the light of the rising sun.
