Opening of two lanes into Deercreek Club Rd. coming soon!
|
Drivers take heed,- the two lane turn on to Deercreek Club Road will be opening soon. Once you make your turn please remember to stay in the lane as directed by the guided lines. This is a huge change from the previous single lane turn. In addition, there is now a pedestrian crosswalk. So please be alert for pedestrians crossing the street going across Southside Blvd as well as pedestrians using the walkway on Southside Blvd. in front of the community. And remember the speed limit on the entrance road to the gate is 30 mph, the same as the interior roads of the community. Please drive safely and responsibly and adhere to all speed limits and stop signs.

We need to find people who would like to help keep Deercreek one of the premiere communities in Northeast Florida. We need residents to step forward and volunteer to show their community spirit by running for the board or join a committee. Openings are available for Common Property and the Architectural Review Board.

From the Access Control Committee

By Tommy Walter
Football season ramping up means parties to support the favorite teams. Please be sure to enter all guest names in the DwellingLive system or give the gate a list BEFORE the party. That will get your guests to the party quicker than when the guard at the gate has make a phone call to verify guests.
Also, please continue to be watchful for students walking to or from bus stops. Safety is the watchword!

Who Owns the Road between Southside and the Deercreek Guard gate?
|

By Jim Lowell
Covenant and Enforcement Liason
Deercreek Board of Directors
I've often heard questions about who owns the stretch of road between Southside and our guard gate. The simple answer is, we do; that road-in and out-is Deercreek property. The confusion arises because there are commercial establishments-like Watson Realty-along the road. This confusion also leads to questions, such as: Why is this fairly open road posted at only 30 MPH? And, why does our security company patrol this road and issue tickets?
The answer to both questions is straightforward. Like the rest of Deercreek, since it's our property, Deercreek rules and regulations, including our 30 MPH speed limit apply.

Don't Feed the Wildlife...Especially the Geese!
|
By Peter Daechsel
Have you noticed that we have a growing population of resident Canada geese in our neighborhood? If your home backs onto a lake or if you are a golfer, you have, for sure, seen the damage and mess first hand. This situation is only going to get worse, much worse, if we don't take action to manage it. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website states, "Sometimes resident or non-migratory, Canada geese damage property or crops, introduce disease, or present threats to public safety".

Deercreek Home and Garden Club

September 22 - 10:00 AM at the Club
'Daylilies Will Brighten Your Day'
Did you grow up in an area where Daylilies, Queen Ann's Lace and Goldenrod lined the back roads? They grew all by themselves with no gardening required and brought a smile to your face whenever you passed them. We recently vacationed in NC, where daylilies were part of every flowerbed. Those daylilies were usually yellow or orange but today's array of hybrid daylilies is amazing. We have asked Ray Wensell, the Awards and Honors Liaison from the American Hemerocallis Society, to come and talk to us about how the field has changed and how we can grow them in our yards.
Deercreek Home and Garden Club, where no one is a stranger for long.

Why did you buy in Deercreek?
|
Well maintained, neat, esthetically pleasing, property values, gated community? Whatever reason, the esthetic look, security, feel of the community, and not to mention the country club lifestyle, you bought into a deed restricted community which comes along with covenant restrictions and rules and regulations that dovetail the covenants. Would you want to see an orange house, stuff piled in the driveway, sloppy exteriors, boats and cars on the street, blocking driveways and overall poor maintenance of properties?

By Brenda Edwards & Natalie Jackson
You've probably heard of the Wild Hogs, but have you heard of the DCC Wild Hogs? Well, that is a group of Deercreek residents who just completed one of their bucket list accomplishments. Danny Edwards, Ron Jackson, and Kirk Landau along with their friend, Doug Rosebourgh, completed a motorcycle trip from Jacksonville to Canada and back. Their main goal on this trip was to visit the most northeastern point in the United States, which is Madawaska, Maine. This is the second corner of the United States that they have visited on their motorcycles. The first one was Key West, which they accomplished in 2009.
Along their trip they visited Gettysburg, Amish country, The Baseball Hall of Fame, camped in the Adirondacks Mountains and Shenandoah Parkway. They also rode to Montreal and Quebec City in Canada before heading back home to Deercreek. They encouraged all Canadian geese to stay in Canada, and not to follow them back to Deercreek. The total number of miles traveled on this trip was 4,507 miles.

Are you ready for some football? I love football and remember the days of my sons throwing the football in our front yard. September means the Jaguars have started their season, and college rivalries are back - competition every week! The real estate market is also competitive. Only 8 homes are currently for sale in Deercreek, plus 3 under contract, with 13 homes sold and closed over the last three months.
Homes for sale, listed on NEFAR MLS as of 8/7/15, range in price from $329,900 - $524,900. The List Price per Square Foot varies from $132.14 per sq ft to $164.29, with the average at $147.25. The variance in list prices can be attributed to... Read More>>>
