Time to get ghoulish!
All day on Friday 31st October.
Join us for some BYC Halloween fun to
raise money for a good cause.

This Halloween at BYC, we will be continuing our tradition of raising money for a good cause, while having fun and doing our yoga!
Come to class in any item of fancy dress, be it a full body suit or an old sheet, and we will donate a 1 to www.safechildhoods.org - an organisation very close to the heart of one of our beloved BYCers.

All our teachers and staff will be decked out in who-knows-what!
Last year, we had a devil, a nun & a giant pumpkin in the mix!

There will be buckets on reception to donate, if you wish.

Sweat, laugh, stretch and spread the joy of yoga!

New studio mats for all!
BYC has just replaced every mat in the studio!

We have always provided mats for all our students at no extra charge. We hope to continue to be able to offer this well into the future.

All we ask is that every student covers their mat in (at least) a bath size towel or one of BYC's Grip Mat towels, to minimise the amount of sweat falling directly onto the mat. We now have a beautiful array of Grip Mat towel colours. These towels cover the mat completely and you can always wear them as a super-person cape when you aren't in class!
That's what we do! They are 24 each at reception.

Lastly, please remember:
NO GLASS BOTTLES in the studio.
The Belu bottles we sell are 60p,  BPA free and all their profits go to charity!

Bikram Yoga, Injury & Me
Elizabeth Madoyan - BYC Teacher

Woke up one morning with a spring in my step ... Infact it was too much of a spring in my step !!
As I set off for my usual slog of a run in Dubai's blazing 40 deg heat , I managed to trip over an uneven pavement and land in a ditch (Dubai is known for its constant construction). It doesn't help that I am rather a maladroit anyway .

I completely tore my Rotator Cuff and couldn't raise my arm at all .
After MRI etc ... Surgery and rest was ordered . REST ?!! ... Are you kidding ?!!
So, I diligently struggled through yoga looking like a complete beginner (no offence beginners!!)
I could only raise my arm with assistance from my good arm but if I let go it just fell ... Had no control
Anyway .. After 1 month I was able to raise my arm almost to shoulder level without any assistance.

After 2 months I could twist my arms like ropes for EAGLE POSE
After 3 months I could grab a cup and drink (basic, I know) and start reaching out for small objects.

I always swore by the yoga before, but now it's made me believe in it even more and shown me how amazing the body is when you try to change it .
I may not be healed, but the yoga has helped me with day to day activities .

Yay !!

NEW Simplee Aloe
Tastes simplee wonderful and is simplee wonderful for you.

We have a new and very delicious drink in the BYC fridge.... Simplee Aloe.

The wonderful people at Simplee Aloe will be coming to BYC Saturday 11th October,
to give you lucky people a sample testing of their yummy yummy creation.

So, why Aloe? Well, here are just a few of its benefits:

Aloe is High in Vitamins & Minerals:

- Aloe Vera contains many vitamins including A, C, E, folic acid, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6. Aloe Vera is also one of the few plants that contains vitamin B12.

High in Amino Acids & Fatty Acids

- Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, aloe vera contains all 8 essential amino acids necessary for the human body.

Adaptogen:

- Aloe vera is a natural adaptogen that boosts the body's natural ability to adapt to external changes and resist illness.

Digestion:

- Aloe is known to soothe and cleanse the digestive tract and help improve digestion.

Detoxification:

-Aloe Vera is a gelatinous plant food, just like seaweed. The main benefit to consuming gelatinous plants foods in your diet, is that these gels move through the intestinal tracts, absorbing toxins on the way.

Boost the Immune System:

- The polysaccharides in aloe vera juice stimulate macrophages, which are the white blood cells of your immune system that fight against viruses. High level of anti-oxidants help combat free-radicals that contribute to the ageing process.

All this for only 2

'Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name*,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same.
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.' .....
 *Well, we do our best!

Some words of inspiration from
Rudyard Kipling

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
