ARMY'S ARMY HAPPENINGS
Ride To Honor: A Great Success!
On Saturday, May 19th, the Army’s Army and C4 Cross Creek Cycling Club hosted “Ride To Honor,” a 34 and 61 mile bicycle ride to raise money for the Army’s Army and help further our mission of supporting our soldiers, veterans and their families. This event was part of 31 Days Salute, a month-long celebration of performances, exhibits and activities throughout Cumberland County that show appreciation and support for those who serve and have served in the armed forces.
The event took place on Armed Forces Day, giving us the opportunity to pay special tribute to the men and women in the Armed Forces.

Army’s Army Places 2,000 Flags Honoring Veterans
On Friday, May 25th, as part of this year’s 31 Day Salute, the Army’s Army placed 2,000 flags at the entrances of thirteen cemeteries in and around Cumberland County. This has been an annual event since 2006, taking place on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. It is the community’s way of saying thank you to all the veterans that are no longer with us.
We would like to thank everyone who helped support this effort.

Soldiers Say Thanks Again For Dining At Fazoli’s
We would like to thank everyone who came out on Friday, May 25th to eat at Fazoli’s and show their support for the military. Fazoli’s donated a portion of the proceeds from that day to the Army’s Army to help further our mission of supporting soldiers, veterans and their families.
Fazoli’s and the Army’s Army will be teaming up once a month, so if you missed this one, stay tuned for the next one in June.

This month we would like to recognize Wanda Moore, who has served for 11 years in the American Legion Auxiliary as Unit, District, Division and State President. Wanda has partnered with the Army’s on several events, including our Special Friends Ops for Children of the Fallen and most recently, Ride To Honor.
Wanda Moore is the daughter of James Vernon Exum, a career soldier, who served with distinction in WWII and Korea. Wanda has three children, including Jennifer Louvierre, an Office Manager; Master Gunnery Sergeant James Joel Gregory, 27 years in the Marines and still serving; and Jonathan Moore, who passed away. Wanda is proud to say she has 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Wanda graduated from Wesleyan College with a BA in English. She is currently serving as the Hospital Representative at the Durham VAMC and on a national level as National Executive Committee Woman. She is also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Wanda is also involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, in their state-wide Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Events, and OIF/OEF/OND Yellow Ribbon Welcome Events.
In addition, she works with the Family Readiness Group to provide child care for debriefing, update, and reintegration meetings. Some of her other involvements include giving away 8,500 pocket flags and hugs during times of deployment with the Patriotic Guard, Care Packages to Troops, Ride To Recovery, Thanksgiving for Single Soldiers, Christmas with Marines and National Guard, and Ride To Honor. Wanda and the American Legion Auxiliary also hosted a “Thank You For Your Service” ice cream party and puppet show for National Guard Children, where they honored 120 military children at a local elementary school.
