Volunteers Needed For A Very Special Event!

Dear Army's Army Members,

Do you like the outdoors and kids? If so, this may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.

On Saturday, December 17, the Army's Army, in conjunction with Fort Bragg's Survivor Outreach Services and the SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) program, will be hosting an all-day military boot camp for children of fallen soldiers called "Special Friends Ops." The event will be held at Camp Mackall from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Children attending Special Friends Ops will enjoy a day of interactive instruction and outdoor adventures. They will learn things like how to build a shelter out of surroundings in the woods, how to start a fire without matches, how to purify water, how to identify poisonous wildlife, and primitive cooking techniques.

Special Friends Ops will be led by SERE instructor, Gordon Smith, who spent 26 years in the Special Forces. Event sponsor and Army’s Army partner, Outback Steakhouse, will also be on hand to serve lunch and provide giveaways. Deano Severance and Don Chase with WKLM will MC the event and former Miss Fayetteville, Katie Mills, will be making a guest appearance.

We need volunteers for this event to help the kids at each station. All volunteers need to arrive at 9:45 a.m.

We're very excited about this event and about the chance to work with this special group of kids. We hope you'll show your support by joining us.

Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering for this event.

Thank you for your support!
