ARMY'S ARMY HAPPENINGS
Heroes Crusade: An Athlete’s Campaign
Heroes Crusade, a three-day event to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, Green Beret Foundation, RDU AMBUCS and Ride 2 Recovery, was a huge success! The tournament consisted of three events: Heroes Crusade Golf Tournament, Fallen Warrior Rugby Tournament, and 5k Run/Walk/Bike. The goal of the event was to raise awareness and funds for wounded warriors. Close to 500 athletes participated in the tournament, raising $12,000.
We would like to thank Hardee’s, an Army’s Army partner, for sponsoring lunch for the golfers. We would also like to thank all of the many volunteers who came out to help.

“Spirit Day” With Chick-fil-A
On November 16, the Army’s Army partnered with Chick-fil-A for the second time on a Spirit Day fundraiser. A portion of the day’s sales went to the Army’s Army. Money raised during all Spirit Day events goes directly towards funding the Army’s Army mission of supporting the military and their families, as well as veterans and their families. We would like to thank all of our partners and members who came out to show their support.
Tweets4Troops
What a success! This Veterans Day salute reached over 700,000 people and received 977 tweets.
On 11/11/11, Fayetteville/Cumberland County enlisted Americans across the country to take part in Tweets4Troops, a nationwide Veterans Day Twitter salute. Through a local tweet-up and the hashtag #Tweets4Troops, the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) encouraged people to join in and show their support to honor our brave servicemen and women. People were asked to send out messages of love and support throughout the day.
Crystal Cavalier, the 2011 Army Spouse of the Year, kicked off the tweet-up at Cross Creek Mall. The FACVB donated one dollar for every tweet with the hashtag #Tweets4Troops to the Army’s Army for a total of $977.
The Army’s Army would like to thank everyone for joining us in supporting the troops via Twitter!
Veterans Day Parade
The Army’s Army would like to thank and welcome home our Vietnam veterans!
On Saturday, November 12, thousands of people lined Hay Street to give our Vietnam veterans a long overdue ‘welcome home.’ According to parade organizers, this year’s parade was the largest and most well-attended in its 14-year history. More than 130 military units participated, alongside ROTC units, marching bands, C-130 flyovers, rifle routines, military equipment displays and more.
The FACVB and the Army’s Army played a special role in the parade by printing and distributing 2,000 ‘thank you’ signs to parade spectators. Everyone was asked to proudly hold up their signs as Vietnam veterans filed past them in the parade as our way of finally saying ‘thank you’ to this deserving group.
