Army's Army Honors Military Families on Independence Day

Dear fellow Army's Army volunteer -

As you may know, the Army’s Army and Fayetteville teamed up with Hasbro to donate GI Joe action figures to children who have lost a parent or guardian in combat. Many of you volunteered to distribute the toys from the Army’s Army tent at Operation Celebrate Freedom VII held at the Main Post Parade Field at Fort Bragg on July 4th. Demonstrating our tradition of supporting the military community in Fayetteville, we felt it was important to celebrate the country’s freedom and independence while paying tribute to those that put their lives on the line everyday to protect it.

In addition to the GI Joe giveaway, Operation Celebrate Freedom featured musical performances by country singers Jason Michael Carroll and Julianne Hough, a demonstration from the Army’s Golden Knights Parachute Team, and a traditional July 4th fireworks display. If you were unable to attend, you can read some of the press pick-ups on the Chief of Public Affairs blog. Both North Carolina and South Carolina media covered the event, with pick-ups ranging from local television news stations and newspapers to various national Internet sites.

Without your hard work and continued dedication to our military families, none of this would have been possible. I hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day and congratulations on a successful event.
