Important Information About Lifeline

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will be conducting a Public Participation Hearing (PPH) to inform the Lifeline Proceeding led by Commissioner Sandoval.  With the Commission's unanimous vote in favor of an expanded definition of basic telephone service, now comes the Commission's identification of issues associated with how best to apply the Lifeline program to alternate technologies (i.e. cell phones).

The next hearing will be held August 13 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Laurel Inn and Conference Center, located at 801 West Laurel Drive in Salinas.

Members of the public, consumers and residents will be the ideal supporters who can speak to the need for low income, seniors and disabled Lifeline consumers to be able to take advantage of the generous California Lifeline Program applied to their cell phone, home phone, etc.

AS EASILY AND QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, without delay - and a monthly benefit applied to plan of consumers' choice is best, NOT a one-size-fits-all lifeline plan.
