AOA's Ombudsman program is the ONLY agency uniquely focused on the rights, human dignity, quality of life, safety and welfare of the elder resident. Our staff and certified volunteers advocate for the residents, investigate concerns, and educate staff and families about the residents' rights. Certified Ombudsman Volunteers are advocates who provide the crucial on-the-ground link to thousands of long term care residents; who bring our mission into a daily reality for residents across Monterey County.

Are you a good listener looking for
a way to help others?
Many seniors are anxious or depressed, experiencing grief or loss, or are facing declining health. You can provide emotional support for these vulnerable members of our community by volunteering as a Senior Peer Counselor with the Alliance on Aging. If you would enjoy the challenge of being trained as a counselor and are a compassionate listener, you might consider joining our program. Our clients speak both English and Spanish so bilingual speakers are encouraged to inquire.

This annual event is meant to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness. Educate yourself today about what elder abuse is and what you can do to help prevent it.
