Greetings!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! There's still snow on the ground, but Spring perennials are poking through the dirt, and Daylight Saving Time means the sun is up later.  These are all good things, and they mean that Spring is not far off.

In this issue, we have an announcement about a  new procedure from Detroit Edison.  Also, we will give you a look at our new contract rates, so you can decide if it is something you wish to move to.
Attention Owners of Properties Serviced by Detroit Edison (DTE)

DTE has started a new policy whereby they will only give us a date for a scheduled turn-on, and they will not give us a time window shorter than 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

We have been informed that we can't call in the morning for an update, and the technician will not call ahead when he or she is on the way to the property.

We will continue to send a member of our maintenance team to your property to meet the DTE technician; however, we are left with no choice but to charge our labor rate for the wait time, which could end up being a full day.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and we will continue to work with DTE to try to resolve this issue.

If you have any questions, please contact Client Services.

New Contract Terms

At the beginning of the year, we launched a new pricing structure for new clients.  We want to be sure that all of our clients have the opportunity to review the pricing structure and make a change if you feel that the new terms are more favorable for your portfolio.

You may review the new terms on our website.  Please note that while the percentage on the new agreement may be lower, we have added new fees that you may not be subject to under your current agreement.

Please review, and if you have questions, please contact Client Services.

Winter Property Taxes Are Due

The deadline for paying property taxes was February 15.  If you missed this deadline, or you are not sure, please contact the local assessor's office to check.

Late fees apply, and the longer you wait, the higher the fees.  Taxes are transferred to the County on March 31, 2013.

If you are going to appeal your property taxes, and your property is not located in Detroit, there is still time.  If your property is located in Detroit, the deadline has passed and you will have to wait until next year to file an appeal.

Should you pay your taxes even though you are going to appeal?  YES.

For more information on the property tax appeal process, please contact the Law Offices of Aaron D. Cox, PLLC at 734-287-3664.

The first day of Spring is March 20.  It won't be long before we are running around in shorts and looking for the wave runners!

Sincerely,

Chris Garner
