Four of us from ABC Computers recently attended Microsoft's
Worldwide Partner Conference for a week in Orlando. Although summer isn't a great time of the year to go to Florida, the WPC is a great event at which to network and confirm Microsoft's direction. A few of the takeaways for us were just how quickly Microsoft is moving, a preview of much more innovation coming, and Microsoft's vision of so many products working together. As a NAV-focused partner we are incredibility excited as we can see Microsoft's vision aligning to what we have been working towards ourselves. The complete essence of our company is everything NAV and we are embracing the surrounding products and services to fully extend our offerings. Certainly, not a small or easy challenge but one we are excited to embrace. I look forward to our team sharing even more on this challenge as the year rolls on.

Best,

null

Respect the Process

By David Williams

ERP implementation involves many decisions and choices that can ultimately decide how effective your business operates. Your ERP system needs to be a tool that can facilitate the various business process flows within your organization. Too often managers, IT staff, or users feel the need to pursue the latest and greatest features and functions, even if that new functionality doesn't fit well into their business or process scenario. While it is important to understand the features and functions offered by your ERP system so that new ideas and changes to the business can be discussed, supported, and implemented, functionality should not be the driver. The process should dictate the use of the ERP system.

Report Margin Issues in Microsoft Dynamics NAV RDLC Reports

By Rachel Kuchar

One of the most common issues a Microsoft Dynamics NAV developer runs into with reports involves a blank second page or a second page that has very little data on it. This is usually a result of the horizontal size of the report being too large to fit on standard size paper. This means that if the width of the fields and the margins added together exceeds the "printable area" of the report, it will automatically trigger a second page. For U.S.A sizing, this means the total of the horizontal size of the report is larger than 8.5 inches for "portrait" or 11 inches for "horizontal."
