Greetings!

During the month of May, Waupaca, Wisconsin was again host to the Midwest Regional Microsoft Dynamics NAV Users Group (NAVUG). Nearly 100 Microsoft Dynamics NAV users, sponsors and vendors from all over the country descended upon our small hometown for a day of education, networking and fun.

It's heartwarming to see the camaraderie and the number of NAV users that have become good friends after attending this event that grows every year.   I would highly recommend that you mark your calendars for next May, 2014 to attend this favorite yearly event.

Another favorite event of mine in Waupaca is the 4th of July parade. A train that I built from recycled barrels has become a featured attraction in Waupaca's annual parade. Each year I pull kids in the train while ABC employees and their families hand out more than 800 pounds of candy to parade-goers. It has become a tradition that both the community and our company look forward to every year.

If you aren't already, I would strongly encourage you to get involved with your own local community. Not only are you lending support through your time, goods or services, you're also strengthening your community - making it a better place to live and do business.

I hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July and enjoy the rest of the summer!

Sincerely,

Midwest NAVUG Brings the NAV Community Together

By: Karen Tran - ChargeLogic

The 2013 Midwest NAVUG Regional Meeting just wrapped up in Waupaca, Wisconsin, a beautiful area of blue skies, green pastures, and pristine lakes. This event brought together nearly 100 users, sponsors, and partners for education, collaboration, and a great time.

What this meeting does best is that it gets people together, face to face, to share NAV stories. There were great educational sessions like "Budgets in NAV," "MRP Planning and Service Management," and "ODATA Web Services." My favorite sessions by far were those where users and partners collaborated, shared tips, and helped to solve each other's business challenges. Read More...

Make Plans to Review the Planning Enhancements in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013!

 By: Fria Kurowski

I was asked to conduct a break-out session at the regional NAVUG meeting a couple of weeks ago on the new manufacturing features in NAV 2013. Of course, I said, "YES!" Microsoft has done a fantastic job of taking inventory planning to the next level with the introduction of additional planning setup options, integration with Jobs and Assembly Management, and inventory visualizations.

Before the introduction of NAV 2013, differing reorder policy data was contained in the same field. Now, it's been split into multiple fields, making it possible to have different values for Lot Accumulation Period, Rescheduling Period, Dampener Period, and Time Bucket.

Wouldn't It Be Great to Take a Test Drive Without a Salesperson in the Back Seat?

By: Tom Doran

OK, so I need a new car...sigh...(dread)...

You know, the shame of it is, I like cars.  I REALLY like new cars.  But  what I really don't like is shopping for new cars.  I know websites can give me all kinds of information to arm me to the teeth when I actually have to go into to hand-to-hand combat with the car salespeople; however, the one thing they can't provide me is how the car "feels" when I drive it.

Say what you like, but I cannot mak e any decision on any car without driving it first.  I find this to be a real challenge.  First, there is the issue of how I get treated at car dealerships by car salespeople.  Second, there is the amount of time required for test drives.  And third, those flippin' salespeople are going to want to ride in the back seat with me on my test drive.  Ugh...

A Meeting of the NAV Minds in Waupaca

By: Ryan Pollyniak - Equisys

When we first looked into becoming a NAVUG (Dynamics NAV User Group) member, we had to weigh the pros and cons, as with any business decision.  NAVUG would give us membership in a community of NAV users and partners... but what did that mean for our business?

Fast forward three years, and anyone involved in NAVUG knows that we are heavily involved.  Looking back at everything that NAVUG has contributed NAVUG logo to our organization, the regional meetings and annual national Forum conferences have been some of the most beneficial.
