Write your first draft and self-edit with confidence Playwrights at the idea stage or the editing stage will benefit from two new training opportunities with Theatre Ontario Talent Bank member Lindsay Price.
Sometimes the hardest step in the playwriting process is the first. Where do I find inspiration? How do I develop an idea? What if my idea fizzles out halfway through? Our Playwriting: Idea To First Draft workshop will take you from the idea stage to confidently writing a first draft. This workshop runs Saturday, March 9 from 9am to 4pm. Read more about Theatre Ontario's Playwriting: Idea to First Draft
Plays are not written in the first draft. Plays come to life in rewrites. But re-write how? What if we don't know how to move our work forward? What if we don't know how to critique our own work? What if we aren't sure how to process feedback from others? This workshop offers tools and techniques for playwrights who have a play "under construction." This course runs April 5 to 7. Canada has a new anti-spam law - is your theatre prepared? Theatres use email and social networking every day to sell tickets to shows, promote events, solicit for donations and volunteers, and engage with audiences between productions. Canada's new anti-spam law, currently under review and expected to come into force in late 2013 or early 2014, will place considerable restrictions on the sending of commercial electronic messages (which include emails, messages to social networking accounts and text messages.) Failure to comply with CASL requirements may result in penalties of up to $1 million for individuals and up to $10 million for corporations. Read more about Canada's new Anti-Spam Law on the Theatre Ontario Blog
With some forward planning and thoughtful administration, you may be able to avoid incurring costly unwanted financial penalties. Join us on March 26 at 2pm for "Canada's Anti-Spam Law: What Theatre Practitioners Need To Know" with Sarah Farrell.
