Apply for our Talent Bank of instructors Join our roster of skilled theatre trainers and workshop leaders by becoming a member of the Theatre Ontario Talent Bank. We are now inviting applications for Talent Bank membership.
Theatre Ontario's Talent Bank matches organizations (particularly community theatres and educational organizations) with professional theatre teachers and trainers for workshops, adjudications, and short-term consulting contracts. The members of our Talent Bank are proficient practitioners, with a demonstrated ability as a teacher/trainer, and sensitivity and familiarity to the needs and concerns of the trainees in the community and educational theatre sector.

Honouring innovation in financial planning and management The 2012 Sandra Tulloch Award for Innovation in Arts and Culture was presented on October 29 to Heather Young, in recognition of the value, insight and stability she has brought to the planning and management needs of over a hundred individual artists and organizations in the province and beyond.
The award was presented to Heather at Creative Trust's Sunset Bash. The Sandra Tulloch Award for Innovation in Arts and Culture is presented annually to an individual or a collective whose initiative, activism, leadership, and service has contributed to the development and strengthening of arts and culture in Ontario through innovative and practical initiatives.

In this workshop with Cheryl Ewing, learn how succession planning is about strengthening your own skill as a leader while planning for that day when you don't want to bear the responsibility of leadership. In this workshop, Michael Wheeler, Artistic Director of Praxis Theatre - a key hub for live performance and online engagement in Canada - investigates the pitfalls and opportunities organizations encounter when they integrate with the internet.

Self-Start: The Basics of Producing
If you want to do a show but have never produced professionally before, and if you want to know what questions to ask first, this session is for you! Self-Start is a practical seminar facilitated by Tim Chapman.
This workshop is designed for individuals thinking of producing a show or starting a theatre company, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions and try out ideas, discover the questions you need to ask and answer, learn to organize your thinking and planning, work on scheduling and budget considerations, and find out about available resources and services.

What is your vision of Canadian theatre in 2017? The Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) is convening a national conversation about Canadian theatre. The Dialogue on Theatre asks "What is the vision for Canadian theatre in 2017 that the theatre community can support and work together to create?"
We encourage theatre professionals of all levels of experience and responsibility to join in. This Dialogue is not just for PACT members--theatre instructors, presenters, artists, board members, and audiences are encouraged to participate.
The upcoming roundtable dates are November 12 at 10:00am in Toronto, and November 14 at 1:00pm in Kitchener. Visit the PACT website and the Dialogue on Theatre site for details and RSVP information.

Getting Started for Actors
Getting Started sessions are for actors beginning their professional careers. In this two-hour workshop, Tim Chapman, Theatre Ontario's Professional Theatre Coordinator answers the most frequently asked questions about the business of acting. Find out about the realities of showbiz, pictures and resumes, Equity and ACTRA, agents and casting directors, auditioning, and maintaining and improving your acting skills.
The next Getting Started for Actors session on Wednesday, November 21 at 2pm is now full, however you can sign up for the waiting list and be among the first to be notified of future dates of Theatre Ontario's Getting Started session.

- On November 13, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts' Stats Report III will present findings from data gathered in an industry-wide survey of the TAPA Membership for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 - event information and past reports are available on the TAPA website - and after November 13, you will be able to read the new report
