A Message from the President

Rachael Rosas, President

Hello MHVRP Members!

I hope you all are having a nice, mild winter!  Be sure to stop by the website, www.mhvrp.org, and check out all of the changes we've made.  We've been increasing the amount of information that is available electronically to better suit our members.  And don't forget that if you have any items that would be appropriate to post in our online "Resource Directory," be sure to e-mail them to Penny Brown at PennyBrown@aghosp.com.  I hope to see you all at the upcoming Spring Conference!

New and Improved MHVRP Online Resource Directory!

Have you checked out our online resource directory at www.MHVRP.org recently? It is a great place to get ideas and samples of tools other members are using.

The directory is broken up into 11 different categories:  Applications, Evaluations, Fundraising, Legal Issues, Orientation, Position Descriptions, Program Development, Recruitment, Regulatory Agencies, Resource Websites and Students & Interns.

The directory is only as good as the information shared by members. If you have a volunteer resource tool that you have developed and are proud of, please consider sharing it.  It could be a new volunteer position description, an updated application, orientation guide, staff training guide, etc. or anything that you think others might find beneficial. Please send any documents for the directory to pennybrown@aghosp.com.

All information posted will be attributed to the hospital that submitted it. Plus, the year it was posted on the site will also be shown. This section is also password protected, so that only MHVRP members can access it. (The current password is: rlr12.)

I encourage all of you to check out some of the current items in the resource directory.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me or give me a call at (269) 686-4239.

Health Care Advocacy Day

At the 2013 Health Care Advocacy Day, hospital volunteers, chief executive officers, senior leaders and governing board members will convene to learn about public policy in Lansing and Washington, DC, that affects Michigan hospitals and how the health care community can work together to influence real change for hospitals, providers and patients.

At Health Care Advocacy Day, attendees will hear inspiring stories from experts in the areas of communication and government affairs and receive the necessary tools to deliver health care's messages to state and federal legislators. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with state legislators who will decide the future of Michigan's health care policy.

Please join us on April 17th in Lansing at the Radisson Hotel in Lansing for this event. If you have any questions, please contact Stacy Dowdy (sdowdy@mha.org) at (517) 703-8648.

You may also register online by visiting www.mha.org, clicking on the "Events" drop-down menu, and then choosing "Event Registration."
