Slingerlands Fire Station Breaks Ground
Renovations and additions to the Slingerlands Fire Station have begun! The 1960's vintage station is getting two new bays, lengthening of the existing 3 bays, firematic support spaces and a day room.

East Putnam Fire Station Project Moves Ahead
After an effective public education program, the East Putnam Fire District of Putnam, Connecticut has recieved a resounding vote of approval from the community with more than 80% of the voters voting in favor of the project. Construction documents are nearing completion, and the job will go to bid in late winter. The District will be utilizing funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to build their new station. Here's a rendering of the proposed design.
FIERO Fire Station Design Symposium
We will be presenting, once again, at the F.I.E.R.O. Fire Station Design Symposium this November in Charlotte, North Carolina. The title of Bob's talk is "Construction Documents through Punch List: How to Control the Process for a Design/Bid/Build Project". This presentation will provide the participant an overview understanding of how to control the outcome of a construction project, including:

- How to create a thorough set of drawings and specifications that protect and control the project
- Examples of particular elements of the drawings and specifications that control the construction process
- What constitutes a proper detailed estimate of probable construction cost
- The use and meaning of "Or Equal"
