Columbia Newsletter
Greetings!

Your key to understanding the hardwood plywood grading standards

Grading Guide How would you like to have a nice, easy to read publication at your fingertips that would provide explanations, photographs, illustrations, and a glossary to help you translate the ANSI/HPVA HP-1 Standards?  You may recall that Volume 8 in our series of WoodWorks Newsletters addressed the Standards with the intent to review its colorful history and explain how the standards work.  However, that volume was not intended to be an actual interpretation of the standard.  Well, now Columbia Forest Products has created a resource that does just that!

Our Hardwood Plywood Grading Guide provides practical explanations of natural characteristics, grade limitations, core options, and even the manufacturing process, making it an essential tool to use in conjunction with the industry standard.

Topics covered include:
  • Veneer cuts and matching with photos and explanations French Grading Guide
  • Examples of grades in a wide variety of species with accompanying photos, common attributes, uses, and availability
  • Photographs and text describing most common characteristics
  • Core types
  • A comprehensive glossary of terms
  • Tables for grades of the more common species of faces and backs, cores, and limiting criteria
We actually made the Grading Guide available at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta last fall, and the response was overwhelming.  Since that time, we have reprinted the Guide in English and French, and they are both readily available.  Please email us for your copy today!  I am confident you will want to keep it close at hand!

In closing, it is always our intent to be a resource to all our customers, not only for our PureBond Hardwood Plywood panels, but also as a valuable source of information on a wide variety of topics.  This Newsletter is only one of many of our wealth of resources that may be found on our website under the appropriately labeled heading, "Resources."  I encourage you to check it out for yourself!  I think you will be glad you did!
