Our next discussion group will convene on February 25th, when we will be reading Jeffrey Archer's
A Prisoner of Birth, an exciting crime/thriller-type novel (with a great court-room scene finale) recommended to us by member Ed C.
Archer's website, with an author bio and regularly updated blog, is available here:
Ed C. also mentioned that he has learned, through
OLLI, the continuing education organization here in Tampa, that they are celebrating 20 years by publishing a collection of member's artwork and prose. They are looking for avid readers to review written
articles for inclusion.
If you are interested, see Ed at the next meeting, or contact OLLI, or email me.
Below is the information sent to Ed:
"The deadline for submissions was in December. We now are entering the phase
of reviewing the submissions.
We are looking for reviewers to read and evaluate the prose submissions. I am
not looking for anyone to proof read the pieces -- instead I want people like
yourself who are avid readers. I want the reviewers to review whether it is of
high interest, or enlightening, or educational.
Would you or any member of your book club be willing to help us. Most of the
pieces are short with a few longer stories. We placed a limit of 5000 words but
only had a couple that were a little over 4000 words. A reviewer does not have
to be an OLLI member. Also, it is OK if a reviewer has submitted something for
the book -- we just ask that they not review their own submissions."
