I hope everyone has a wonderful 2013 New Year underway and you are looking forward to a year of great reading.

The group's current Reading List is always available to you by clicking on the following link:

Our first selection, set for Monday night, January 28th, is the novel Clara and Mr. Tiffany, by Susan Vreeland; you may remember that this author also penned Girl in Hyacinth Blue, a favorite from last year's list.Book Cover Graphic: Clara and Mr. Tiffany  The "Mr. Tiffany" in this title refers, of course, to Louis Comfort Tiffany, the famous American designer and artist known for beautiful leaded glass work.  Read a brief biography and background of Tiffany on this Wikipedia link:

This Wikipedia link also explains who the title character "Clara" is:

"Recent scholarship led by Rutgers professor Martin Eidelberg suggests that a team of talented single women designers led by Clara Driscoll played a big role in designing many of the floral patterns on the famous Tiffany lamp as well as for other creations."

You may also want to read about Tiffany's work at The Morse Museum, which is located close by, in Winter Park Florida:

Thanks to Jean K. for suggesting this book for us.  See you all on January 28th!
