East Lake Pet Orphanage's Holiday Fund Drive
Please support East Lake Pet Orphanage's Holiday Fund Drive to help care for the homeless pets of our community.
Your gift of $15 can provide for the initial care for pets who urgently need your help. I urge you to send your Holiday Fund Drive gift as soon as possible to help the homeless pets of our community. You have my word we'll stretch your gift as much as possible and continue doing the most good for hungry and homeless pets.
Pet overpopulation is a community wide problem that requires each of us to do our part. The care and rehabilitation these deserving pets requires significant expense and covering these costs presents a considerable year end financial challenge. Can we count on your support to meet this challenge? Please send your gift today!

My Dog!!
"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.
He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another man.
With him, I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him.
And I expect I will - as I always have.
He is just my dog."

A Special Thanks to the Animal Enrichment Clusters!
The Animal Enrichment Groups are children who have a special interest in animal related occupations.
The Intermediate Animal Enrichment Cluster, a group of 23 third and fourth graders, were here at East Lake in the month of November.
This group visited East Lake, toured the clinic and surgery suite, got to look at numerous x-rays, looked at abscessed teeth and observed a dental cleaning on a dog.
They also were able to examine many preserved specimens such as a liver, kidney, intestine, heart, parasites and heartworms.
This fantastic group raised money by making and selling "Wild About Animals" 2013 calendars, in which all proceeds from the sale of these calendars were donated to the East Lake Pet Orphanage.
The most recent to visit were seven from the Imagination Group of third graders
from Moss Haven.
They have already raised over $250 by selling raffle tickets for the orphanage and are still selling tickets!
They were also able to tour East Lake and were able to get to know all the animals on a more personal basis! These kids have really been working to raise much needed funds to help our orphans!

Our own Dr. Molly Deason, who has been a veterinarian at East Lake since 2000, is seen here with the Animal Enrichment Group.
Dr. Deason is very passionate about getting kids interested in different vocations and often volunteers her time to work with them, which includes letting them join her at work and be a "vet for a day" with her.
A Special Thanks to Dr. Deason for her personal commitment and devotion in
educating children on animal welfare!
