Mike Dunne

Michael Morgan Dunne, R.I.P.

January 26, 1931 - June 3, 2013

Dubliner Mike Dunne, 82, a longtime Seattle area resident and actor, has died in California where he moved two years ago to be with his daughters Fiona and Roisin.

A raconteur and all-round genuine Irish character, Mike was very well known and liked in Seattle's Irish community, and he was an acting fixture in Seattle since emigrating from Ireland in 1964. Mike came to the US with his wife Valerie (2006), daughter Fiona, and son Darragh (1985) and quickly became a pillar of his community both in real estate and theatre. Michael performed at the Seattle Rep, the Intiman, the Bathhouse Theatre, the Driftwood Players Theatre in Edmonds, and his last performance was in 2001 as Ebenezer Scrooge in the ACT Theatre's A Christmas Carol.

For a while, Mike was also the proud owner of an Irish Pub in Edmonds called "Ye Olde Irish Pub" and he was always available for a good singalong. He would light up any room he walked into!!

Mike will be sadly missed both here and in Ireland where he is survived by his siblings Betty, Donal, Margaret, Moira and Fionnuala. Sincere condolences to them and to Fiona and Roisin.

A Mass to celebrate Mike's life was held yesterday in Dublin and his burial service will be this Saturday, June 29 at 11 am at Restlawn Memorial Park, 23800 104th Ave W, Edmonds.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílse

May his faithful soul rest at the right hand of God
