VIDEO HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
|
EC4 students stepped outside on a beautiful winters day this week to enjoy a fun and creative activity called Splatter Art!
|
COUNTING ON YOU To celebrate the New Year 2016, the Montessori 3rd graders built and counted a 2016 bead chain and used it as a timeline to teach the 1st and 2nd graders about events that occured.
WINTER WONDERLAND EC 3 students used real clay to form their own miniature snowmen making for a great fine motor and sensory activity for young children. Miles Bryant(r) proudly displays his work with Loren Vaknin(l). To celebrate the conclusion of their winter unit, they made a snowball treat by mixing peanut butter, honey, and dry milk topped with shredded coconut to look like a snow ball. MATCHED UP Our 8th grade students are nearing the end of their time in Middle School and participated in a High School shadow day. They each were assigned a 9th grade student to shadow and attend classes with that morning followed by a Q and A session to culminate an informative experience. WHERE IS HASHEM? There are times where teachers use experiences in the classroom as teachable moments for our students. Natalia Yadan asked Morah Esther "Where is Hashem" and Morah Esther used this to create a discussion with her students about the concept of Hashem being everywhere. Students then capped this off by each giving Tzedakah with Gavrielle Footnik seen below making her contribution.
ALUMNI GATHERING
On January 9 we hosted an RMBA Alumni Gathering at Genesis Steakhouse. 30 guests gathered to chat and reminisce and reconnect and it was great to see so many familiar faces.
MELTS YOUR HEART
Ms. Thomas assists Aeden Schlachter with a neat experiment the EC 2 class conducted where they froze paint mixed with water in the shape of popsicles and then used them to paint the following day.
BUDDY UP
1st and 3rd grade students paired up in Ms. Berger's class where they practiced reading to each other with the older students assisting their younger counterparts when needed. They then identified key parts of the story that they would then illustrate. (l-r) Maya Ashlag, Chana Jacobson, Ofir Tessler and Arieh Rozensweig.
MEMORY WALL
To get back into the swing of a new semester, Ms. Spears asked her English students to bring a memento from the winter break or beyond as a talking point among students. There is currently quite an assortment of items that has encouraged interesting and thought provoking discussions in class. (l-r) Akiva Levy, Maya Wadler, Gabriella Abramson and Rivka Leah Mergi.
STONE SOUP
After reading five different versions of the Stone Soup story, Kindergarten students compared and contrasted and then gathered to make the soup. They took turns peeling and chopping, placed guesses as to what would happen to the consistency of the vegetables in the soup due to the heat and then sampled their delicious creation. (l-r) David Gross, Ami Kellerman, Noah Ackerman and Asher Goldstein.
HEART HEALTH
Our Elementary School Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart Campaign kicked off this week and in addition to fundraising, students shoot hoops and jump rope during gym, and complete word puzzles and exercises to learn more about heart health. (l-r) Maayan Milo, Avigayil Kira and Ellah Miloh match up some hearty information.

Basketball
The girls have opened up TAPPS District 9-2A play with two impressive wins to start 2-0. An exciting 48-47 victory over Brazosport Christian was capped off by a Sapir Tessler free throw with 3 seconds remaining. Then the Stars defeated Briarwood to move to 2-0 in district. Their next game will be on Tuesday against district rivals First Baptist Christian Academy.
High School Boys The boys have opened up their TAPPS District 9-2A play with two wins as well. A 37-30 victory over Brazosport and a 63-47 victory over Briarwood have put the Stars in the top spot through 2 games. The next two will be very tough as they take on Community Christian Thursday night in Orange, TX and then rival First Baptist Christian Academy.
Middle School Boys The middle school varsity boys lost a tough one at Grace on Tuesday and look to rebound against Veritas on Thursday. The jv boys won a big game against Grace and will resume play next week.
Middle School Girls The middle school girls lost a tough one at Grace on Tuesday and look to change that with a game at Veritas on Thursday.
If your child will miss a practice or a game, please let the coach know prior to the practice. It can come in the form of a text or an e-mail. Please do not have another player relay the message as it is often forgotten or not accurate.
