UNITED WE STAND
On Monday, the entire Upper School learned Pirkei Avot together as part of a Siyum Mishnayot in memory of Ezra Schwartz. Then the entire school grades K-12 gathered to sing HaTikvah. Jewish day schools from around the world all gathered to simultaneously broadcast and sing a global HaTikvah.
SOUP WEATHER
EC 3 students read "To Market, To Market" by Anne Miranda and each brought an item to contribute to the delicious vegetable soup they helped to make in class. Enjoying their hearty bowl of soup is (l-r) Yael Shitrit, Meira Meckley, Daphna Agranov and Hannah Juarez.
SOLDIER SIGHTINGS
Our High School students enjoyed an important presentation from two IDF soldiers. Captain Dor shared his vast experience in the army while Sargeant BarYadin shared his unique experiences as a Lone Soldier in the Special Forces. Sergeant BarYadin is also the brother of 4th grader Daniel BarYadin making his visit that much more meaningful.
PERFECT PATTERNS
EC 4 students (l-r) Naomi Micha, Israel Dov Lieberman and Aiden Sigler are assisted by teachers Sarah Herbst and Esther Bellaich while working on their pattern making and indentification skills.
MAGNIFICENT MENORAHS EC 2 students are working with Ms. Heather to create a Menorah that they each helped to make by with color and glitter while practicing their counting skills. WONDERS OF THE WORLD Ms. Schneider's has the world at her finger tips as she teaches her first grade students geography as they learn about oceans, continents and countries.
CANDLE LIGHTING Kindergarten looks on as Ms. Blumberg likes the first candle of the Menorah for the first day of Chanukah. Elementary students gathered each morning in the lobby following davening to commemorate the days of Chanukah.
HOMELY HOSPITALITY Earlier this week staff hosted Chanukah parties at their homes for Middle and High School students. The evenings were filled with latkes, sufganiot, dreidel games and more! Below are the 8th graders with teacher Gabi Gelman. TOIL FOR OIL Elementary School students received a visit from the Chanukah Oil factory and each class enjoyed a special lesson about how oil is made and students helped to make oil. Below, Michael Sulman works the oil press while Samson Roisman and Abigail Rosenblatt look on. LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! This week our EC15, EC2, EC3, EC4 and Kindergarten classes put on Chanukah performances for family and friends to enjoy. Our students naturally shone and then enjoy delicious latkes, sufganiyot and cookies with their guests. Thank you to all who shared in this special morning. Below is a photo of Morah Esther's EC 2 class. For photos of the EC Chanukah performances click here and for Kindergarten click here.
MOROCCAN MAGIC Our Shlichim and Bnot Sheirut created quite the experience for our students who enjoyed a taste of Moroccan Chanukah filled with uniquely delicious treats, dancing and "henna" painting. Below, Daniel Bublil receives his henna treatment from Ilan Ehrlich.
