WE HEART ISRAEL
On Wednesday, students and staff were encouraged to wear blue and white to show our support and love of Israel! Thank you to our Bnot Sheirut for creating this slideshow capturing the incredible ruach of that day!
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Middle School students are working on a Linoleum Printmaking Project where they were asked to create a design exploring the meaning of their Hebrew name. After creating a series of possible design sketches, students students chose their most visually interesting design to carve into the linoleum block and then print their carving with ink onto paper.
WE HELP OURSELVES 2nd graders participated in a special program offered by Childbuilders which has been designed to help him/her learn behaviors and strategies for staying safe...at home, school and in the community. The WHO (We Help Ourselves) Program consisted of a video presentation and a discussion led by a Childbuilders trained facilitator.
3D DELIGHT
Rabbi Kellerman's 3D Halacha class visited the Jewish Federation who have graciously allowed us to use their 3D printer, to watch the incredible process of their halachik rulers being printed.
IN THE BEGINNING
EC 3 students Ariella Levine (l) and Daphna Agranov (r) share their Bereishit globe mobiles that they made along with their peers while they learned with the story of creation.
FROGS
Mrs. Schneider's 1st grade students Ellanor Navon (l) Maya Ashlag (r) learned about short "O" sounding words such as frog. They then created their own frogs, had to identify other short sounding "O" words, and decorate and cut them out and feed to their own frogs to gobble up!
SOW A SEED
Nati Loiselle (l) and Liam Samet (r) enjoyed the outdoors while in Mrs. Fowler and Ms. Bigham's classes as they worked in pairs to fix the soil, plant the seeds and fertilize and water the cylinder plots. They planted radish, lettuce, kale, kohlrabi, and 3 kinds of beans while learning about the parts of a plant and how the seed is the beginning and the end of the plant life cycle.
COLLEGE BOUND A representative from Yeshiva Unversity and Stern spoke with our 11th and 12th graders this week about life on their college campuses.
TAKE FLIGHT
While learning about the eight types of quadrilaterals, 5th grade students in Mr. Plummer's class decided to embark on a kite making project and tested their finished products outside. Pictured below is (l-r) Jonnie Katz, Jacob Kupferman, Alina Goldfine and Raizel Gerlitz.
NO TO VIOLENCE
Morah Rinat's 4th grade class participated in a moving project dedicated to saying no to violence in memory of the 20 year anniversary of the assasination of Yitzhak Rabin.
MIX IT UP Elementary and Middle School students each enjoyed separate Mix It Up events during a recess this week. Students played a game of questions at assigned tables with peers. By moving out of their comfort zones and connecting with someone new or different, many misperceptions fall away. |
