OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL OUR RMBA FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS DEVESTATING FLOOD.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED FOOD, ITEMS AND THEIR TIME TO RMBATO ASSIST OUR FAMILIES IN NEED.
PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR WAYS WE CAN CONTINUE TO ASSIST THE COMMUNITY
The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, in partnership with Jewish Family Service, is mobilizing a community response to provide aid and support for people devastated by the May 26 flood. We are here to help individuals, families and our Jewish institutions, which sustained substantial damage. The Federation is raising funds and JFS is providing services for the relief effort.
Funds are needed for basic services and to help people repair their homes. Crisis counseling is also essential. There are three ways you can help:
- Able to give? Donate at www.houstonjewish.org/houstonflood
- Able to provide physical labor (no training necessary)? Emailjfsvolunteer@gmail.com
- Able to give gift cards for $50, $100, $200 or $500 good at groceries, pharmacies, big box stores like Target, Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot? Please drop them off at Jewish Family Service at 4131 S. Braeswood Blvd., Houston, TX 77025. M-Th, F, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

SHOOTING STARS Last week, we hosted our Star Awards, an evening where we honored all our students for their hard work and exceptional qualities. As a school community we shared in the successes and triumphs of our peers and friends.
SUPER STARS Our middle school students and families gathered for a lovely Star Awards ceremony over breakfast ceremony to honor the remarkable accomplishments of our Middle Schooler.
SHAVUOT In honor of Shavuot our EC3 students were asked to wear white and created beautiful wreaths as they learned about the customs and traditions involved.
EC4 NO MORE The EC 4 students marked the end of their Early Childhood Program before they enter Kindergarten with a heartwarming performance of songs in both English and Hebrew for family and friends and a slide show recapping highlights from a wonderful year. Students then received one of their favorite books, a bad case of the stripes by David Shannon.
COUNTING OF THE OMER Kindergarten students discussed the counting of the Omer and to symbolize what they learned about each day, the students stepped outside to count out 49 steps to represent each day.
NO FRY FRIDAY! In honor of No Fry Friday, a National Skin Care Awareness Day, students brought hats, glasses and sunscreen to school. Even thought it was a rather rainy days, students still learned about the importance of skin protection through various age appropriate and informative handouts that included coloring, games and important lessons to be learned.
SENIOR PRANK As is tradition, our seniors sneaked into school one night to wreak some havoc all in good fun. Little did they know the prank was on them as it was the night of the storm and they had to spend the entire night at the school! HOLE IN ONE
Traditional teaching in RMBA is more than just lecturing; it involves teaching students how to use what they learn in the classroom in real life. The Miniature Golf project is just an example of a great multidisciplinary lesson in 8th grade Geometry. Students worked for weeks on their projects so check out their finished assignments in the school lobby.
SENIOR GRADUATION On Wednesday evening our 2015 Senior Graduation took place as planned thanks to a generous offer from Brith Shalom to host the event as unfortunately there was terrible flood damage that occured at UOS. The seniors shared poignant and emotional speeches touching on the inspiration they draw from their unique roots. It was incredibly important for our community to share in such a positive event together in light of the terrible flooding that has affected so many of our families.
